I am first and foremost a documentary photographer. Documentary photography is a style of photography is typically described as a type of photography that provides a straightforward and accurate representation of people, places, objects and events. Almost all news photography is documentary photography, but higher level documentary photography, while an accurate representation of what’s being photographed, is not necessarily straightforward. The best documentary photography contains levels of meaning that allow the photograph to transcend the individual elements in the photograph.
